Definition: These excipients may initially raise concern but are widely regarded by scholars—especially within the Ḥanafī school—as permissible based on evidence of istiḥālah or clarified source verification. Some other schools or scholars may still express caution.
Why this classification? These ingredients may originate from questionable sources, but have either undergone a full chemical transformation that alters their essence (e.g., ethanol becoming vinegar), or have been identified upon further research as derived from plant-based or synthetic origins. Majority scholarly opinion, especially in the Ḥanafī tradition, rules them permissible due to these mitigating factors. Nevertheless, some dissent may still exist among other schools.
