
Dr Ghalib Abbasi
AdvisorDr. Ghalib Abbasi, PharmD, MS, MBA is the System Director of Pharmacy Informatics at Houston Methodist Health System in Houston, Texas. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Science Degrees from the University of Iowa, and his MBA degree from West Texas A&M University. During his tenure, he has worked in several pharmacy settings including community, hospital, and industry. He has spent most of his career in the field of pharmacy informatics, where he heavily contributed towards the progress of this niche section of the profession. Dr Abbasi has several publications and US patents in the field of pharmacy informatics, operations, and finance. He is a member of multiple national and international pharmacy organizations, and has special interest in the areas of interoperability, sterile compounding technologies, clinical decision support and pharmacy artificial intelligence. With his understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, he is well-positioned to address the complexities of halal medicines, ensuring that both healthcare professionals and the Muslim community have accurate and practical guidance in this area.

Hamdi Lababidi
Co-Founder and ContributorHamdi Lababidi holds a PharmD from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and is currently pursuing an MD at Central Michigan University College of Medicine. He has a deep passion for promoting awareness of halal and haram medication among patients and clinicians.

Nabiha Butt
Co-Founder and Executive DirectorNabiha Butt is a pharmacist prescriber with a deep passion for community engagement. She works across various settings including community, hospital and general practice. She has studied Islamic courses pertaining to the Fiqh of halal and haram prescribing and the Fiqh of medicine. She has a goal of promoting awareness around halal and haram medication. As the Secretary of Muslim Doctors Association, Nabiha is well-placed to bridge the gap between Islamic bioethics, pharmacy practice, and mainstream healthcare, ensuring that both healthcare professionals and Muslim patients have access to accurate and relevant information on halal medicines. Additionally, she aims to engage with key stakeholders and manufacturers to provide accurate information that will help patients make informed, faith-conscious healthcare decisions.

Shaykh Dr. Rafaqat Rashid
Shariah AdvisorShaykh Dr Rafaqat Rashid is a traditionally trained Muslim scholar, general practitioner (UK), academic researcher and international speaker on Medical Fiqh, Islamic Bioethics and the co-founder and academic director of Al Balagh Academy. With his unique blend of Islamic scholarship and medical expertise, he is uniquely positioned to educate the Muslim community on the ethical, religious, and practical aspects of halal medicines.

Regina Monique Ahmed
Co-Founder and ContributorRegina Ahmed MRPharmS, IPresc, MFRPSII, is a pharmacist and prescriber from the UK who graduated from the University of Bath.
She has worked in a range of different pharmacy settings including community pharmacy, GP practice, professional membership body, pharmacy trade organisation and other pharmacy organisations. Her current role as Guidance Manager involves writing national guidance and professional standards for pharmacists across all stages and sectors of practice in the UK. She has also studied various Islamic courses including a two year Islamic diploma, the Fiqh of halal and haram medication and prescribing, and the Fiqh of medicine. She aspires to use her expertise in pharmacy and knowledge in Islam to educate and raise awareness of halal and haram medicines to the Muslim community and healthcare professionals.

Sadia Islam
Operations ManagerSadia holds a BSc in Neuroscience from King’s College London and has conducted research into pharmacological and non-invasive approaches to treating neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on the role of sleep in brain health. She has collaborated with various organizations to promote mental health awareness and scientific education within various communities; bridging the gap between science and public understanding. Sadia brings together her scientific background, research experience, and keen interest in Islam to support the Muslim community in making informed decisions about medication, with the goal of championing inclusive and faith-conscious healthcare.

Zubaira Aziz
Co-FounderZubaira Aziz is specialist immunotherapy pharmacist with a focus in dermatological conditions that include rare genetic diseases.
She is currently furthering her studies pertaining to the fiqh of medicine. With a strong interest in community education, her aim is to empower Muslim patients and healthcare professionals with the knowledge of halal/haram medicine consumption to make informed decisions.
